Adoption Tax Credit Expanded!
We would like to inform you that adoption tax credit has been expanded and extended. On March 23, 2010, the President signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (P.L. 111-148). Prior to this law, the tax credit was set to expire December 31st of this year. Section 10909 of the bill addressed the adoption tax credit. The credit is expanded in the following ways:

The amount has been increased by $1,000 bringing the amount to $13,170 for tax year 2010.
The credit was made refundable for all types of adoptions; allowing families with small tax liabilities to better access the credit (adoptions finalized in 2010 & 2011).
The credit will be extended through December 31, 2011.

Dollywood Passes
Dollywood has a great deal going. They will give one free pass to Dollywood and one free pass to Splash Country each year to any child that is in foster care in Tennessee. Also, on the same day that the pass is used, it can be upgraded to a season pass for the same amount of money as for any regular ticket! To participate, I will need the following information on DCS letterhead from the DCS caseworker: (This can be attached to an email)

Foster parents name, telephone #, and how many children their home is approved for
Children in Foster Care's first and last name and age
What day they will be attending
Will it be for Dollywood or Splash Country

After I have received the info, I will fill out the paperwork and fax the request to Dollywood. I will need at least 14 days notice. Then, Dollywood will process the request and get the confirmation # back to me, and I will then forward it on to the caseworker. The foster parent will have to have this # when they claim their tickets at Dollywood. If a request is being made for a school trip, be sure and put on the letter that a representative from the school will be picking up the ticket instead of the foster parent.
